Prime Minister Thaçi: It was my idea to name the University of Prishtina after Hasan Prishtina and his name will honor this institution
Chaired by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting, in which they approved three draft laws, a concept paper on the preparation of a draft law, an administrative direction and took various other decisions within its constitutional and legal competences.
The Minister of Education, Science and Technology proposed that the Government approve the decision to name the University of Prishtina after the patriot and ideologue of the Albanian state, Hasan Prishtina. Naming the University of Prishtina after Hasan Prishtina honors this institution, said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and he said this was an old idea of his, but the occasion of the centennial of 100 years of independence of the first Albanian state, made it more important and meaningful.
In addition, Prime Minister Thaçi proposed that the Kosovo National University Library be named after Pjetër Bogdani and the Kosovo Historical Institute after Ali Hadri, both important Albanian cultural figures.
The Government approved a decision on these three proposals regarding the naming of Kosovos cultural, scientific and educational institutions.
The Draft Law on the Song and Dance Ensemble Shota and other ensembles was approved. This Draft Law regulates the operationality of the activities of the Song and Dance Ensemble Shota and other cultural and artistic ensembles. This Draft Law regulates the definition, type, establishment, activity, organization, financing, and position of artists and other affairs relating to this field.
The Draft Law on goods exempt from customs taxes and goods with zero customs tariffs, which was approved by the Government, defines goods which are exempt from customs taxes and which can be released into circulation with zero customs duties because of the nature of these goods and their particular use.
The Draft Law on the ratification of financial agreements between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Austria aims to ratify the framework agreement between the two countries, signed in July of this year. According to the agreement, development projects and financial cooperation will be implemented.
The administrative instruction on the promotion of energy efficiency and energy services by end-users, aims to improve the cost effective use of energy by end-users. This can be achieved through the setting of energy saving targets and the creation of conditions promoting a market for energy services.
The Kosovo Government approved a decision on declaring the Business Park in Mitrovica an economic zone. The location of this park is in the cadastral zone of Mitrovica, with a surface area of 3.50 hectares, and it is the property of the municipality of Mitrovica. The key activities of the Business Park of Mitrovica are production, processing and services.
In todays meeting, the government cabinet approved a concept document for a Draft Law on Special Excise Fees for Start-up Production and Small Production of Alcoholic Products Manufactured in Kosovo.
The Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj informed the government cabinet about the signing of the agreement with the Consortium Çalik & Limak on the privatization of the KEK distribution, supported by the Kosovo Government.
